Houser Mouthpiece Works

Post by Paul S »

Hi LV,

As I recall the A9 would be the serial number of that mouthpiece with "A" being the first run from around 1994-1995. I believe only the models sold by Orfeo had the serial numbers.

I understand that Deck Mouthpieces made after about 1997 and those sold by Brasswind (I believe only sold by them after 1996) do not have the serial numbers.

FWIW, I have the actual master of the Warren Deck 2 and find it to be an extremely close match to the feel of the PT-50+ in sound colour, throat, rim shape and size.

Dave Houser Mouthpieces Works manufactured the Warren Deck series.

comparison

Just as LV says, the Deck is really a hunk, even bigger than the Megatucci-Megatoni-Mega-"+" series.

Here are two comparison photos with a Perantucci PT88+ "Mega", the Deck 2, and a standard size Perantucci PT-65.
The Deck 3 was bigger yet!

Could this be said Stork mouthpiece?

This has the screw rim with the 'fat' Deck rim, not the SHII one. It works great on my 2P as well as the BBb bass I play here in the UK.

I had a Deck 3 that I messed around with for about a month. I sold it because I really didn't like the sound I got with it. It did have that "stare" factor though.
