Valve Button Replacement

Post by MurmurMoose »

Does anybody know where I can get replacement valve buttons for my Meinl Weston 2145? The only requirement being that they have some sort of inlay, as I will replace them with ones I will be making. Thanks!

Hi!

Try contacting the very helpful people at Melton Meinl-Weston directly. I'm under the impression they offer spare parts for their insteuments - even older ones. Your spare parts should fit in a normal envelope so shipping shouldn't be a problem.

Go with one of the custom inlay finger buttons from Mouthpiece Express - http://www.mouthpieceexpress.com/catalo ... 5266954417" target="_blank

There are advertised as Yamaha tuba finger buttons but they have a 4 mm thread, same as the Meinl Weston. I wanted to personalize my MW 195/5P and MW 2141 and these are what I chose.

Be forewarned that Mouthpiece Express is somewhat slow (think three months) but what they deliver is pretty nice. It really spiffs up my instruments and I get a lot of comments.

I have found Meinl Weston (Buffet) to be entirely unresponsive to parts requests.

I have had success in ordering them directly from Hirsbrunner. They have a 4 mm thread, and are the big (20 mm) mother of pearl inlay.
