Does anyone have the dimensions of the Tennessee Tech tuba mutes made back in the 70's. We had a few at Southern Ms and I even made one. They worked very well. Aluminum cone with a plywood top. I would love any info on this. Seems like it has been mentioned here before.

THE TENNESSEE TECH CHAPTER of ITEA supplied mutes to our colleagues for over 40 years. When we started the only available tuba/euphonium mutes were the old “stone-lined” mutes from Humes and Berg. Enough said! It has been our pleasure to supply school systems and colleagues throughout the United States with reasonably priced mutes for euphonium, F tuba and BB-flat/CC tubas. There are many options available these days so we find our “service” less and less necessary. Thank you to everyone who ever supported our efforts. We will no longer be manufacturing the TTU-TUBA Mutes as of January, 2012. Best of luck. TTU-TUBA

I e-mailed Winston Morris (I'm a former student) and copied-and-pasted your post in the e-mail. Apparently there weren't official dimensions or they were lost. Here is his reply...
"Hi Gray... I have a student now who has done a good job of wrapping up our mute business... He actually had a “mute day” sometime before Thanksgiving to finish up a bunch of unfinished mutes. We are keeping all that we have for ensemble use and haven’t sold a mute in a couple years. So we’re keeping a dozen or so of each model of mute for future use: NOT for sale... I’m not aware of any “dimensions” that we could share with anyone other than the metal templates which I guess are still in the lockers there somewhere. We would NOT share the templates but if someone wants to make measurements of an existing mute and devise their own template/measurements that’s fine with us. No big secret. Take care... WM"
