Sam Pilafian Boston Brass mouthpiece

So recently G&W released a Boston brass line of mouthpieces and I know its still very early bit if anyone has already played the Sam pilafian mouthpiece yet I'd like to know your thoughts on it. Im really interested in it, but It seems to be a bit on the small side which scares me a bit, for reference the smallest I like to go is about the size of a pt-88, and I have use a Bruno Tilz T5 (35mm) and a Josef Klier (34mm) and I also like the Rudolf meinl 0. But I have no clue the specs on it. Thanks in advance!

The smallest mouthpiece you like is a pt-88? Yikes, that's a huge mouthpiece, you might be limiting yourself a little bit there.

I've been talking to him about it. I play on an old monette prototype of his and he said it's going to be similar to that. I use it with my yamaha 621 f tuba, and its awesome! Kinda puts a tighter leash on the horn and makes it feel more like an f tuba instead of a fat euphonium.

Yeah I understand the 88 is normally very big for most people haha but that's literally the piece I grew up playing on so you can say that anything smaller just feels a bit too enclosed.

How you been Ben? And that sounds pretty appealing, I'm wondering if it will work well on my old Bill Bell model, which is what I'd be buying it for. Right now I use the RM 0. on it and I really like the tone I'm getting but yeah I'm still very interested considering Sam played one of these for years.

Oddly enough- I've been playing on a borrowed Bill Bell for the past few months! Truthfully, I've had the best luck with just a standard conn helleberg. I'll try the Monette with the Bill Bell tomorrow and let you know!

It is similar in size to a Yamaha Jim Self model. Ivan told me that's what Sam was playing on when they started working on this new one.
