Hello all, i just joined this site in search for some more information on a tuba i recently picked up...i know its a meinl weston a division of getzen tuba ......serial number 712057.......my questions are what model is this ? and roughly what year was it made ? i understand its in rough shape, but is this tuba worth restoring? thanks in advance for all your help!!

I don't know enough about tubas to answer your question but you have my curiosity piqued. May I ask (ball-park) what you got it for?

How does it play?

The original 11 was not convertible. That started sometime in the late 80's or early 90s from what I can tell. My first owned horn 1977, Model 11.

how much would it cost to have all the dents pulled and gone over ?

They're aren't enough picture to notice all the dents... I think my local guy would charge about $75 to roll out the bell.

Prices vary wildly between various techs/shops/states/countries, etc.

If I were you, I would have it cleaned (or clean it myself) have the bell rolled out, and then leave it as is...

I agree with this. At first glance the tuba looks pretty darn good! The bell was the only thing that really caught my eye. I have a student who just bought one of these and it's a nice little tuba. I played on it for a bit and like it. It was very nimble. Give it a bath, roll out the bell and enjoy! (even rolling out the bell isn't going to drastically change the way it plays, but give it a good cleaning)
