Gig Bag for Recording Bell

Post by sticky_valve »

Hi all,

I thought I'd share my experience with recently receiving my second set of two-piece gig bags for recording bell tubas.

I had them custom made by Altieri in Colorado USA and had them shipped all the way across to Australia. My first set I purchased two years ago and they fit my Reynolds Contempora like a glove. They have stood up well helping me cart the horn back and forth to rehearsal and gigs, etc.

I recently ordered another set of bags for a Conn 20J and wanted to plug the all-new design recording bell gig bag. Most who have these bags might recall the draw string almost sleeping bag like design. The bag I received has been greatly enhanced and features the following:
• A zip which goes around the bell rim.
• A separate elastic cover which pulls over the bell rim to prevent the zip from scratching or damaging the bell rim.
• A contoured, much more reinforced fit around the neck / collar of the bell.
• More padding and support overall.

I’ve tried to capture it in some photos to help demonstrate.

A big thank you to Donna and the team at Altieri, I think they are on a winner with this design and wanted to share it with those of you considering options for gig bags to fit recording bells

:tuba:

Cheers,
Mark.

I also have one...and old sousaphone gig bag.
Too flimsy for a sousaphone. More than enough for my front bell.
Just sayin'
