Re: Conn Monster BBb 4v
I don't know what to think of the price of that OGB. Must be really special? That's nearly twice what I bought and then later sold one for, and 2 1/2 times in the case of the first one I had. Hard to imagine them getting that price. Maybe so, though.

I believe he's referring to the OGb on Dillon's page, which is at $5,295. (No eBay take, but it could be Dillon's consignment take)KiltieTuba wrote:It could also be an inflated price due to the fees that eBay and PayPal take.talleyrand wrote:I don't know what to think of the price of that OGB. Yes, that is what I mean. The consignment charge is a good point. But even controlling for that, the price seems aspirational to me. But it's really none of my business. Best of luck to the seller.PMeuph wrote:[

That 32J looks almost like a Donna-Telly, except for having the tuning slide before the valves.

The 32J is still for sale. Does anybody have any insight into this particular model? I'm a little intrigued by these big old classic horns, but I'm also a little on the fence with not being able to actually try it out.

I can comment on the top-action 4 -valve Conn BBb at Dillon Music. This is one of the nicest horns of its' kind that I've ever played. The intonation is excellent and does not include some of the "Conn Quirks" that are often encountered.

The e-bayss and Dillon's Monster are possibly comparable, both being .734 bore horns.
The Orchestra Grand is a much larger horn (.773 bore) and is a completely different animal.
Just sayin'
