WSJ Review of new Orleans Brass Band CD

Post by Bowerybum »

Nice article in the WSJ this morning on a new cd from Smithsonian Folkways on New Orleans Brass Bands.

I like the way the column begins: "For even casual tourists, nothing signifies New Orleans like the sound of an approaching sousaphone (the tuba’s more portable cousin". Enjoy.
"When the legend becomes fact, print
the legend."

Could the trombone be a Conn 6H?

What does the word before Marshal say?

Reading more about these NO brass bands suggests the title of Grand Marshal, only there is no way that I can see a capital G here.
