MWRTEC 2015

Post by michael_glenn »

Hello everyone,
Who all is going to MWRTEC? Does anyone know what vendors will be there this year? I'm excited to go to my first conference!

looks like you're on your own on this one. Should be able to get a good seat at all the concerts.

Which reminds me...GO TO CONCERTS. GO TO LECTURES/DEMO SESSIONS. Whatever, get to as many as you can.

Here's the vendor list from the ITEA web page.

Curmudgeon,
What other specific oriented music conferences ( trumpet, trombone, etc) have such allowances and considerations that you are suggesting? In my experience, if the conference is instrument specific it's programs and clinics are usually geared towards college/professional/adult amateur attendees.

Just so you all know you're not speaking into the air... This issue of memberships for all attending was very thoroughly worked through leading up to the 2012 ITEC. The way it is now was the decision at that time, and looking back it certainly does seem to be one element in the really remarkable financial health and strength of ITEA today.

It isn't just family members, BTW. That represents a very small proportion of attenders. The principle is not, "Spouses and children pay," but rather, "Everyone pays." That means invited performers, board, staff, host, everyone. A handful of spouses get caught in that, but it has so far seemed good to stick to the principle.

The time may come to discuss it again, but the current way of organizing and structuring the finances of the conferences is working brilliantly. Kelly Thomas has done a fantastic job of leading this area of ITEA's work.

Full membership should not be necessary. An entry fee other than full membership is the obvious and logical answer.

It will open the pool of attendees and increase revenue, not reduce it.
I agree. This is very short-sighted of ITEA. I'm happily a member. The regional conferences are the best ways to recruit new members, but not by forcing them to join ITEA to attend.
