Does anyone know anything about that new "project" at Dillion's? I have the spare cash to get it, it looks extremely interested. From the photo it looks to be in marvelous shape, and it's probably older than my York, I'd love to throw a Valve set on it and it it running. I've never even heard of a Boston named tuba. Does anyone have any info? I'm about to do some good searching, but thought I'd try here first.
Thanks,
Zac

Always helpful Mark! I'd never heard of it, and that site has very little info, but that's better than nothing, certainly.bisontuba wrote:http://www.horn-u-copia.net/Reference/display.php" target="_blank .....and look up 'Boston'

Re: Boston CC
That Boston CC project is something I started about 12 years ago. I met the love of my life at that time and it got put on the back burner. I found it up in the attic and realized that I'll never have the time to finish it as I have 3 other personal project tubas I want to finish more than that one. So, it is on consignment with the hopes that someone who can cut on valve tubing but doesn't have the tools for the big branches might have some fun finishing it.
That Boston started as a very short top action BBb tuba with a very small bell flair. The original bell had cracks in it so I replaced it with a new Yamaha YBB-201 bell that didn't have any engraving and had because they have a smaller than average bell flair. What else do I remember? I think I was planning to use a Jupiter valve section as the oval brace flange pattern reminded me of the Boston braces. Olds braces would work, too. I think .690" bore pistons would work but Octaves might then be off. A larger .750 ish bore valve section would be ideal but a .734 bore like a Conn sousa valve section might be the ticket for less money.
I priced it at $695 because a new Yamaha bell lists for about what I am asking for that whole body. If nothing else, someone could cut the bell, install a King bell tenon and convert an older bell front King into an upright bell.

Thank you sir. I made this post hoping that you'd comment. I may give you a call in a little bit, around 4:30 your time, I'm still thinking it over.Matt Walters wrote:That Boston CC project is something I started about 12 years ago.
