If you're an ITEA member there are some killer recordings that they stream live on the iteaonline.org web site. Some of it is newer, some of it is core rep. There is also a section that they call "power lessons from the pros" where you get these great videos from the best players around. It's an easy rabbit hole to go down if you've got a few hours to spare.

If you have a Facebook account, follow or friend Jonathan Dorn. He puts up several videos daily featuring interesting tuba players.

Brian Wolff:

A ton of audio recordings from Drums and Tuba; Wolff and Tuba are available on the site. Take what you want. Pay what you want.

About as good as it gets...

I didn't even know that. Nice find.

This is a place where I don't mind spending a little money to be a member, either. Really excellent resources, sometimes they'll give you new literature for free.

1) I looked and may have missed it: What piece is Mr. Hofmeir playing in the video you put up? Thanks.

2) John Fletcher is another good one to listen to if you can find recordings of his. Some are on Youtube.

I have a few tuba solo CDs that I like and listen to every now and then. But I much prefer listening to tuba in some kind of ensemble. As amazing as the "tuba artists/soloists" are these days, I'm not really crazy about the "large euph sound" many get on their F tubas. My ears have been much more impressed when I have heard well-played contrabass tubas on solos :!: Tubas should sound like tubas, not euphs. :tuba:
