Solo Cimbasso Literature??

Post by tylerferris1213 »

I am the proud owner of a cimbasso, and I was wondering just how much solo literature has been written for this instrument. My initial searches haven't been too successful. I know you can play bass trombone solos and you can transcribe anything for it if you have a notation program (which I've done), but I want to know how much serious literature is out there specifically for cimbasso.

Maybe you thought of this: Tomasi "Etre ou Ne Pas Etre" and the Lebedev "Concerto in One Movement" are both for either Bass Trombone or Tuba and for my money work extremely well on Cimbasso. For fun I have an arrangement of the Vincent Youmann's "The Carioca" with band accompaniment. (my original) I realize you are probably more interested in more serious cimbasso specific pieces. Bon Bons are fun though.

That sounds fun! Is your arrangement available to play? Is it for sale somewhere?

Anything with the word "Cello" or "Bassoon" in it.
