Give it at least 3-4 weeks. Once you get past the "it itches" phase you're good to go.

Learning to play tuba with it is tricky as well. I play much better with a clean face, but eventually learned how to do as well with a beard.

However, the real problem is that my beard is starting to turn white far sooner than I would have guessed.

Too bad that particular tuba is dying a slow death in captivity. At least the one in Oregon can still be played... (although maybe it's not as good of an instrument?)

That is an interesting horn. I was thinking about taking the 2 hour drive up there to check it out but lost interest after thinking about how much work that thing would take.

The leadpipe patch, the ferrule on the small end of the bow, the (artfully not photographed well) flattened tubing, and the wild MP receiver setup all give me the douche chills.

My crystal ball says lots of spiderweb cranking in future dent removal. However I do admit that I have a very cynical crystal ball.

I started growing it because our community orchestra season ended and I was just too lazy to shave for a week, so I thought I'd give it a try. I usually like to play with a clean-shaven face. I grew a goatee once and didn't like playing with it. I forgot that I have a polka gig tonight, so that should be interesting...They usually go 2-3 hours.

I have a Sander CC. It has a really sweet, dark sound with lots of color to it. The 4th valve being pitched at two whole steps is something of a challenge, but not unworkable. I have used it in the orchestra and will again when appropriate. I tried buying this one, but he won't ship.
