Do these Euphs have large or small shank?

Post by EuphoniousJoy »

Hey all

I've got a student looking for his next model up horn and I've been trying to help him find a good deal on a nice horn.

I've had some trouble finding out if the following horns/models have large shank mouthpiece receivers or small (or medium/european).

Does anyone have the info? I would really appreciate it! :D

Amati 241
Amati 344
Besson 1065

ALSO: Since we are looking.... is anyone selling a large bore 4 valve euphonium (with 3+1 config please)?
He really liked the King 2280 however, it had the 4 top action valves... my student is really looking for the 3+1 config. Thanks!

I'm not sure about the Amati horns, but I'd personally stay away from the 1065. It's made in India whereas the 7065 is made in England.

My Amato 331 is medium shank, if that helps. A Chinese comp euph may be the best bet in that price range.

Agree with Bob. In that price range the Wessex Dolce Cantabile or the Mack Brass are far better options.
