Progression

Post by MaryAnn »

Well, I think the corner has been turned. I remember way back to previous venues for the forum, and the wonderful conversations we had there; the layout was such that you could see who was commenting on a thread and decide whether to look at that thread based on the population. Then the forum moved and that information went away. The people on the forum changed too; the professional, courteous, highly informational content changed, and a few more aggressive people started dominating the forum.

Yet, I was still interested in tuba and maintained a presence.

Then, I developed dystonia, but persevered. However, after my attempt to again buy and play a tuba showed me that I am no longer strong enough to lift one, combined with the still ongoing dystonia problems, I seem to have finally changed my mental focus. I come here now and can't find anything of interest because I can't participate as a player any more.

So internally I feel a farewell has occurred. I mostly left a few years ago when I almost died from the toxic mold exposure, but I seem to be in a different life of sorts now, still forced to live in outside air year round and only able to participate in musical groups that have safe environments. Pisser but there it is.

So. My very best to all of you whom I have "forumed" with over the years. I'm sure I'll still stop in but I keep finding not much to say.

Thank you for participating in the six years I've been here. Best of luck and health in what comes next.

All the best to you MaryAnn.
I agree that some of the posts here have become a bit more hostile or aggressive at times, but every once in awhile there's something useful. Sorry to see you go. You always contributed good info.

Yeah, this forum gets a little annoying and certainly isn't the same as it was a couple of years ago. Nonetheless... I continue to hang around here and read what I want but don't contribute as much as I used to. Sorry to see you go.

But seriously, I wish you good health, I'm sorry to hear you can no longer play, and I hope you will stop by once in a while.

I have missed you, and understand some of the things that you've described with the progression of the forum. Two forums (maybe I should say the two forums) that I frequent have shifted and changed over the past few years, mostly due to the impact of Facebook as a "meeting ground". I loiter some on both of them, although the motorcycle forum has gotten very difficult to post on and to find archives...
