Skeet Shooters

Hey, this post is for the TubaNet people who fancy in the sports that involve shotguns. Not just skeet, though thats about all I shoot, any body shoot like Trap or 5-Stand, sporting clays on any thing like that. If you do what kind of guns do you use. I got 15 shotguns but my faveriots are my Remington Modle 3200(1 of 1000). Whienchester 1200 12G. Mossberg 500 12G and 20G. Also, while I'm at it I'm about the only person at the range who owns 16 gauges (4 of um) any of you skeet shooting TubeNet people floating around with one of them tell me.

I shoot trap 16yard and contintal, with a remington 1100 12ga from the sixties. I really enjoy shooting trap but not so much skeet to each his own in the shooting sports. I have currently taking a liking to the Browning bps shotguns and would like to get one of these bad boys.

I'm afraid that I do all my shotgun shooting for fun with a Browning Gold Stalker 3 1/2 inch 12 guage....................

Unless I'm at mom and dad's house. I use dad's Winchester 16 guage pump down there.

I've been trying to get into practicing with the weapon I hunt with more often. I do like dad's lighter 16 guage when i am looking for something a little lighter.

Nobody around me really has 16 gauges, only 12 and 20s. I like the Mossberg 500's, and I've actually been really impressed with Rossi's single shot 12 gauge. Its light, accurate, and incredibly easy to clean. Besides, they're very inexpensive. Ever since my brother became a cop we mostly just go to the pistol range though, because its a lot closer to my house and he has to qualify on the weapons anyway.

I have had the opertunity to shoot a 1100. While I admit its pretty good I would take a pump gun over a Semi auto any day. I've only got one semi auto shotgun. (16 gauge humpback brownig.)

I'm still looking for a place to shoot where I am now. There's a gun club that has skeet and trap, but the cost get's in my way. Bought a reloader in case I find a place though, at least I'll have affordable rounds:) Need a big feild, out of town. Then I can shoot what I want, when I want. (used to go to an old, unused, gravel pit when I was younger).

Not sure of the model, low end 20 ga. pump (Remmington I think)that was bought to replace a "lost" Mossburg pump. Most used them for dove growing up. Dad was the hunter, so I ded dove and squirel. Never got into deer. Sitting still in the wood in freezing weather before dawn? Not for me.

Since high school I haven't been hunting or fishing

Trying to find a cheep 20 ga. for my son. Something he can hold (mine's too big for him). Little single shot youth model, or one I can cut (Dad did that with a .410 for me). I just haven't foungd what I'm looking for yet (I a cheep bastard).

ThomasDodd reloading is the bomb. I love to reload(sept .410 but can't afford factory so oh well) If your looking for a good gun for a kid I sugest a Mossberg 500 20g. But you'r going to have to modifiy it. Thats what my dad did. In VA the barrle of a shotgun must be 18 in long. So he cut the barrle down to 18.5 in. Now he cut the stalk but he cut it to fit me. The way you fit a person for stalk length is like have them bend their arm, put the gun in their and and see where the stalks stops. It should it the arm like you know where the elbow bends. Most likly it will be too long. So you'd have to cut it. Thats how my dad got me my first gun. Don't throw away the cut off part of the stalk, because as he gets older and bigger you can add it back. Don't warrie about the barrle, most people are not affted by barrle length. Just remember once you hack that barrle off its that length for good less you buy another barrle. And you wont have no choke, it will be open cylinder boor whitch is ok for skeet but not trap. But if you do hack off the barrle (And feel like splerging a few bucks) the barrle will be thick enough back that far to get it fitted for screw in chokes. But remember don't hack off a barrle that allread had screw in chokes. (Uncle did it once

Oh ya, before you buy a gun for your kid look around. Wall Mart Mossbergs are like $250. But my dad found that one a gun show real cheap, only $150.

No, I said cheap.
$50-75 pawn shop job. I've seen some around $100, but looking for less.
Since I don't have a place to shoot yet, I'm in no rush...

FYI, that a .410, not 4-10. It a calibre measurement not a guage.

i've used a 12 guage, but it felt like a cannon to just be shooting skeet.

2 things here.
1) skeet is practice for bird hunting. Practice what you'll hunt with.
2) 12ga. has more shot, so better chance of hiting/killing(breaking) the target.

Hey man, I think a 44 Mag is a little louder then a 357. Some people shoot skeet for practice to bird hunting but I do it for sport and compition. Ever heared of the National Skeet Shooting Assotion. Or however you spell the last ward. Anyways I'm a life member.
