Tuba Found In School Band Closet

Post by saxmanager »

I'ma band director at a small private school and I found a three valve Tuba in the back of a closet, a C.G. Conn, Ltd sn 14x,xxx. I'm a woodwind guy and I played a scale on the horn, and someone else who plays brass played it and said it plays fine. The Conn-Selmer website says that serial number is from 1916. Can it be that old? It has dents but it's playable. Anyone know what it's approximate worth?

Pics?

If you found the Conn serial number, did you also find the Conn loyalist page?

As for worth you'll have to give us pics and a description, but I suspect that it isn't worth much...With a few exceptions tubas are rarely collectibles, they only sell for their functional worth.

I tried to upload a pic from my phone but the file is too big. I'll have to post it later. I played the open notes and it appears to be an Eb horn. Thanks for the info....
