Got this link from my pal Joe Murphy. Looks intesresting. I will be ordering one, but I do not know which one... yet.

I thought that this was a perhaps a third entry along with G&W and Houser mouthpiece Modern Jazz Tuba project mouthpieces until I read the small print ...

Dave Houser has always been known for quality work so these could be something to look at closely. In addition, if you have not listened to the MJT, you should soon!

Take a look at the specs on that Large LM-3 though!

Model LM-3 is simply in a class by itself! At LOUD Mouthpieces, we recognize the fact that some of you simply want the most GIGANTIC tuba mpc available. As we all know, size DOES matter! So, here it is. This baby is nearly 2.5 mm deeper in the bowl than a Deck #3. You want a HUGE sound that never goes bright? This is it. Compares to a PT-88 in width, but has a deeper cup. ARE YOU MAN ENOUGH FOR THE LM 3?

I love the write up too but I guess I will remain just a boy lol.

Granted I don't admit to be an expert in mouthpiece making, but am I the only one who thinks that throat size is on the other side of ridiculous?

What is the LM-3 rim like?

Conn Helleberg style flat and with a sharpish inner edge?

Or PT-50 style round and next to none inner edge?

And if one would decide to buy a Loud mpc, there is the tough question: Is Lebanon a safe marketplace regarding money transfers?

Have another look at the bottom of the Loud home page. They're in Lebanon, a city in the US state of Tennessee.

Yes, Lebanon is in Tennessee and that's the address on the website.

It works like this:

Dave Houser and the MJT guys (especially Joe Murphy) teamed up to on a series of stainless steel mouthpieces. It seems as if Joe Murphy wanted to start up his own line of mouthpieces, but that he needed Dave Houser to help with design. The mouthpieces are clearly made by Dave Houser...I've had a couple of different Houser pieces in brass that had the exact same blank as the "LOUD" mouthpieces. So, when you buy a LOUD mouthpiece you're buying a "Houser Stencil," so to speak.

I wouldn't be afraid of trying one...Joe Murphy is a good guy and I'm sure the products are top notch.

I tried one of these mouthpieces that belongs to a Spirit member. It was extremely solid, quite heavy (as expecetd), and well built. There was very little resistance, and I could put enormous amounts of air through it. Notes were well-centered, and lip slurring was easy. The tone somewhat surprised me. I thought that it would be bassy, but it's actually very bright, more of a full range sound rather that favoring any particular part of the sound spectrum.

If you're in a situation where high volume is needed, this is a good mouthpiece. Otherwise, I'm not so sure. Of course, I didn't try any other mouthpieces in the series.
