I think it's the equivalent of a kidnapper sending a photo of the kidnapped person with the current day's newspaper.

Prove the tuba exists, that it is in working condition, and that it is capable of being played with no obvious physical issues. There's no guarantee of what the seller will actually ship, but hey, it's something...

Someone asked me for a recording of my Wessex euphonium when I was selling it. I made a short video of some etude and emailed it to them, they bought it.
