I am looking for any information that the tuba community might have on Ionel Dumitru. All I can find is his BIM biography. I know he has an obit in the ITEA Journal (vol. 25 p.11) but I don't have access to it and don't know if it says much about him. If someone has that and would be willing to send me a scan of the obit, it would be much appreciated. Or, if someone knows some information about him and can send it (or point me in its direction), that would also be great.
I will be reaching out to the George Enescu Philharmonic, the Bucharest Conservatory, and the Music High School of Bucharest to try and track down students, colleagues, and family to gain more insight into his life and career. So, in short, I am looking for as much personal experience and biographical information as possible.
Thanks!
Ionel Dumitru

Re: Ionel Dumitru
Interesting guy. Here's a piece by him.

A few years ago, Angela Gheorghiu sang with the New York Philharmonic (I think it was a New Years Eve concert) and her closing encore was a lovely song by Dumitru.

Re: Ionel Dumitru
I've been a fan of Mr. Dumitru's since hearing Roger Bobo play Romanian Dance No. 2 (?) and give an introduction . . . think it was from TUSABTEC from 20-30 years ago. Would love to learn more about him.
