FS: MAW Valves - SOLD

Post by Michael Bush »

This is a great deal on a set of little-used MAW valves. While it seems possible to make them fit my new instrument, I'm leery of modifying either the valves or the tuba that much, so they're for sale. I'll pay the shipping.

I don't know *for certain* myself. I do know that they dropped in to my M-W 2145 and just worked without any lapping or adjustment, and worked as advertised. It's my understanding that they will do this with any 'big valve' Meinl Weston or B&S tuba.

I know nothing about MAW Valves! ...What is so special about them to generate such a high price? Do they perform better than reg. valves?.. If you were to buy for a 6/4 with varying size pistons could you buy them as singles (not yours!! just curious) and trying to improve my 6/4 horn .....BB

This is not a high price, actually. It's a bargain. I paid $1250 for them (like everyone else who bought them new).

Here's Mr. Wilk's page about them: http://www.mawvalve.com/mawvalve.htm

The only three valve set I can see on the site is for trumpet.

I still have these and would be glad for them to find a new home.

Are you going to Midwest? If so, I'd be interested to try out those valves on my MW 2155, if they haven't sold by then. Feel free to PM me and let me know. Thanks!

Sorry I missed this, just seeing it when I went searching for the thread to bump it. I'm afraid I won't be at Midwest.

I'm open to reasonable offers.
