JinBao 410 CC in quintet?

Is there anyone playing a 410 CC(Mack, Schiller, M&M, Wessex)? do you have video?

Are you simply wondering if it would be appropriate? If that is the question, then I would say yes. While I don't own one, I used to own a Miraphone 186 CC (the horn the 410 is copied from) and it worked great in quintet. My old professor uses his 186 CC in the faculty quintet as well.

I am more concerned about the size of the instrument as I am small build. Seeing some video would help.I am not questioning the tuba itself.

I have of course seen Tom's demos and we are similar in build but I would like to see the horn in context.

Have the leadpipe moved; put the tuba on the chair instead of your lap; use a tuba stand; sit on a cushion/phone book...
There are many ways to make a larger or taller horn fit a less than tall person.
On an early 410 I owned some years ago, I actually found the leadpipe too low for me, that does not happen often at 5'7". I made a block of very dense foam wrapped with black gaffers tape and set the tuba on that to raise it up.

A blokepiece solo with a standard depth rim will be effective on that horn in a quintet.

It's a freakin 186 clone, probably the single most sold German style tuba ever.

Just get the damned thing. Or don't.

So what if someone, or no one, used it in a quintet? No one used a little Yamaha before Chuck. No one used a 6/4 York before Jacobs.

Stop whining and do it. Or don't do or. Just stop whining.

I asked a simple question. Got no help with a video and that is OK. Several replies assume I am stupid. Is this really what Tubenet has become?
I have been playing euphonium and tuba professionally and conducting at the public school and college level for over 40 years.

With all due respect, you ask the video question all the time, and I think people just 1) don't have videos and 2) are tired of being asked the same questions. I never meant to imply that you're stupid -- I don't know you and have no evidence of your stupidity or lack of stupidity (in which case I assume you're not stupid). But really, it seemed like your question was asked and answered, and then asked again. The only way to get the answer that will satisfy you is to buy, try, and then decide. You can ALWAYS sell one of these horns if it doesn't work out for you.

If your credentials are correct, then you should know that you will not sound like them, even on the same equipment.

A lot of the quintet work I have done, we have had audio recordings at best. The ambience of the room can also change the way the instrument sounds. The best way I have producing video is my iPhone, which doesn't have the best audio.

Are you looking for a horn to play in quintet? My suggestion is to get a horn you are comfortable playing and use it. I play a good amount of quintet stuff each year and am the tubist in the faculty quintet where I teach. I use my Gronitz F and my Miraphone CC. I could use any equipment and make it work, and have done so before in emergency situations.

No matter what tuba you use in there...I bet that you will sound like you

Buy a horn that fits you. I wouldn't want a horn bigger than I could hold comfortably for a few hours no matter how popular it might be.

Here's one. It starts at 36:06. Two 12th graders and three 9th graders are playing A Brass Menagerie by John Cheetham. It's a really fun, intense piece and the kids did a great job.

Since you're checking if it works for your height, this tuba player is about 5'2". He just recently became able to stop using a tuba stand for it.
