St.Paul TubaChristmas
I had a great time at the St. Paul TubaChristmas. I hope I didn't miss too many of you there... I didn't see anyone I recognized, by then again I don't know what most people look like. About 100 players, from 11 to 80.

I was there with my Eb Helicon (the second oldest horn there, behind a 1895 helicon : ) I was standing next to the two-belled dragon sousaphone. Pretty creative fiberglass work.
Here are pictures from my vantage point just before the concert and of the dragon horn.

Re: St.Paul TubaChristmas
Thanks. I'm doing St. Cloud Tuba Christmas on Friday for my folks
https://www.facebook.com/events/737715489667703" target="_blank" target="_blank
and then taking the helicon home to Chicago on the 19th. Looking forward to staying at the Palmer House. Going to have to practice all the bits I messed up today : )
It's the year of Tuba Christmas.

I came in late with my 1892 J.W. Pepper Helicon (the oldest horn). I was at the St. Paul Police Band concert and had to rush over to participate. I was on the other side (if you were stage right, I was stage left). It was a good time, as usual. Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet and talk with you.

Bummer! Next year!
BTW, when the conductor was telling a story about meeting a small baby, and that he was a future tuba player... that was my (6 month old) son. It was his first concert, and apparently he loved it. Smart kid!
