Why only American names?
The world is not USA only even though many do have that opinion.
Many of the world's best orchestras are working in other parts.
Widen your sight!

SO many fine players, nobody really is the best. Anybody able to win and keep a playing job deserves much respect.

Re: Dream orchestral brass section
+1 Good post. For a beautifully balanced trumpet section, attend a live concert by the San Francisco Symphony. There are many other orchestras around the world whose trumpet sections also are moving toward blend and balance. It's about time.bloke wrote:I would avoid the "lead-from-the-back-of-the-band" old-school 1st-trumpet types.
I much more prefer the modern-day "balanced trumpet SECTION" type of resonance that I've been hearing more-and-more these days in the POST "trumpet-hero" era.

A dream trombone section was actually in existence for a few years in Philadelphia: Glenn Dodson, Joe Alessi, Charlie Vernon.
