Wessex Gig Bags

Post by TubaZac2012 »

I need a decent gig bag for my York hybrid CC, and I think if it's gonna happen I think it's going to have to be Wessex due to the odd way it is constructed and such. It's close to the same size as a King 2341, but it's Bell is a bit smaller. Maybe a half inch. Big reason I made the post is to see what current Wessex bag users think of their bag. They're relatively new so if anyone has had problems feel free to weigh in. They look like they're excellent bags, but I'm curious about the durability and all that it intels.

Thanks in advance,
Zac

Also if Jonathan wants to poke in and suggest a size that'd be great. I wanna buy one within the next month.

I have a Wessex bag for my B&S/VMI 101 stencil. I had to wait a while for it and more padding would be a plus, but considering the price and quality of construction, it is a great bag. I'm very happy and would recommend them to anyone.

It would be a 10 if it had a shoulder strap and the pocket that holds music was bigger, but that is a side effect of it being a very small bag, & I am told that the next shipment of this size will have a larger pocket. For your horn I'm sure the pocket will be correct
+1 on everything Mark said. However, the bag for my PT6P does not have a pocket big enough for my music folder. (Though, it also isn't as nice as the one that I received for my PT10, so maybe it's just an older model/style bag?)

I told my story last May in regards my Wessex bag.
I bought it and was pleased with it for the first couple months or so, when the shoulder strap broke as I was taking it off my back. The horn crashed to the ground and the bottom bow was dented pretty badly. I contacted Wessex, explained the problem and was immediately told that they apologized: I had apparently received one of the first batch which was not properly sewn at the attachment for the straps. They also told me to get the horn repaired and send them the bill, which they paid right away. They overnighted a new bag, this one with the new improved straps.
I really could not have asked for any better service and the new bag does a terrific job of protecting the horn. They suggested exactly which bag they manufactured that would best fit my 186 and it fits very well. I could not be happier! Buy with confidence! :D

I would suggest Wessex 700 size tubs bag would most likely be the best fit

I would echo Neptune-I have the 700 size bag for my horn from Tabor and I believe it is pretty close to the same size as your CC Zach. I love my bag: great padding, nice size pockets, though my music folder will also no fit in the big pocket without some bending. I wish it had rings for a shoulder strap but that's it.
