Re: Unexpected News
With many good wishes. We all have many chapters to our book. This past one has been good for us and hopefully, as you stated, very meaningful for yourself as well. "Be good, if ya can't be good, then behave. If ya can't behave, be careful."

Thank you Schleppy, for all the attention and work that we all benefited from big time!

I wonder who is going to step into his (literally and figuratively) big shoes? We haven't said thanks nearly enough, I fear.

Hate to see you go, Schleppy. You've been one of the best, most balanced, and most stable moderators out there for a long time.

Hard to imagine, really - of all people - but he's a big guy and I bet he laughs it off as well as anyone could. The work story is sufficient to explain it -- been working how many hours a day!? At some point, when you're thinking about eating and sleeping and other such mundane priorities, a stack of TubeNet-moderator tasks might seem like something that's waiting for the wrong guy.bloke wrote:verbal (written) abuse
Coincidentally, a local blog that was kind of an important neighborhood fixture just ran aground today. Some crabby behavior among readers had gotten out of hand, and the author just quit. Gracefully; if you care whether it died with a smile on its face, maybe that's important, but it's dead. I can't really picture that happening to TubeNet, but that's just because I never had much imagination.

Re: Unexpected News
I feel for Schleppy and other mods. I've team-modded two boards that were destroyed by a vindictive sociopath of a troll. Said troll has gone on to cause trouble in dozens of places, and those places curse his name to this day. Even though things can get really irritating here, I'm glad to see that TubeNet has NEVER approached that point.

Re: Unexpected News
Bravo Schlepp! And thanks for everything.
Moderating forums is a generally thankless job, and (like flowers at a funeral) all the thanks show up too late.
Go ahead someone. Post up a poll for people to vote on a new moderator. That should go well.

Wayne, good luck with your job situation--jobs are not getting any easier these days.
Have you gotten volunteers? The difficulty will be finding someone 1.) with time, and 2.) the ability to attain to the standard you have demonstrated.

I lurk every day and read all the posts, though I comment infrequently. As one who administrates a few discussion groups in other genres, I know first-hand what a thankless, undervalued, and unappreciated task it is. Thanks much for your dedication and hard work.

Thank you for moderating the forum so well during and before my membership and given that spammers are still disappearing and topics are being moved to appropriate forums you are continuing to moderate until a replacement has been found.
Thank you and good luck with the changes in your work role.

Re: Unexpected News
I want to echo what many others have said: Thanks for your hard work, behind the scenes, to make sure this forum has stayed on course. It is a tough, under-appreciated job, and I just want to say that I do appreciate the work you've done.
