MA, who can program the damn things for specific purposes but posting pics is not one of them.
It's all a trick... Often you need to right click and save the image to post it later.
Sometime you need other tricks, like the "Page Info" dialog in mozilla/firefox, and the "Media"
tab there to get the actuall image.

My problem is none of the arial/sat sites go detaled enough to find me. And the images tend to be old and outdated as well.

Try, look for Artesia Rd, in Starkville, MS.
Half the time I cannot find the cemetary across the road in the image. and most are 10 years old. A lot has changed. The placeI live was just a field then.

I got mine up with Google, then pressed command-shift-4, then slected the area I wanted a picture of (or, "selected the area of which I wanted a picture."). Click & hold, drag, release, done.

It was saved as a .pdf, so I opened it in Preview and exported it as a jpeg. Hosted it on Photobucket, and there you see it.

Of course, this was on a Mac, too. :P

If Google doesn't work for you (it doesn't for me for some reason), you can use:

Miraphone 5050 - Warburton BJ/RF mpc
YEP-641S (recently sold), DE mpc (102 rim; I-cup; I-9 shank)

We are the curvy driveway just to the left of center. The photo shows about 110 acres, and the 5% or so left of center is ours.

The road is gravel, and we have no frontage on it. I think that qualifies as "boonies".

One key factor in moving out here is getting away from ex-urbanite neighborhood nazis who think living in the suburbs entitles them to absolute silence, vis a vis tuba playing from across the street.

I do like being able to work on my motorhome without concern about completing the work on any given schedule. And I like being able to park it where the neighbors can't see it let alone complain about it. There is no seclusion from satellites, but those driving by don't know where we are. I like that, too.

I don't like spreading 13 yards of mulch and mowing the 2.5 acres of open space, however. And out here I pretty much do all my own repairs. I prefer it; no neighborhood group or town council trying to protect the livelihood of people who abuse that protection by causing more damage than repair.

Tech is in the middle of Atlanta, but as you can tell, Gainesville, GA is still suburban enough that the satellites don't take high-res images yet.

Holy crap. And here I was, using command-shift-3, and then editing in photoshop like a sucker.

Leland, thanks for the tip! :D

Another bit:

After pressing cmd-shift-4, the cursor is a crosshair, right? Press the space bar, and it turns into a camera -- which will take a picture of whatever window it's highlighting.

Check out how these work with Exposé, too. Fr'instance, in "all windows mode", you can get a shot of just the Mailboxes drawer of Mail by highlighting it with the camera cursor -- without even drawing the Mail window to the front.

(I never knew about the combination of screenshots & Exposé until just now, when I tried 'em for the first time)

This seams to do the best of the available servers for me. It's still almost 10 years ago.

From the pond in the center, I'm about 100 ft. to the left of the home on the map.

Oh,the pond has been drained now.

I live in a city called Mississauga which is more or less considered a 'burb of Toronto. The only thing is, the city has a population of over 600,000 and is one of the fastest growing cities in Canada. All the disadvantages of a big city: noise, traffic, pollution, etc. without any of the benefits: culture, good architecture, good places to eat, convenience, public transit, etc. Luckily, next year I'm moving downtown and I will be living across the street from the music building at U of T. Ah, much better.

My Nearest neighbors are about a mile away.

I love that I can walk 100 feet to work but can also be at Symphony rehearsal 20 miles to my West and Concert Band 20 Miles to my North in driving times far, far less than comparable in city mileages.

It is a very rural area (mostly small 8k cities and 60 miles to nearest city over 40K) but we have DSL service even on the farm and our local performance halls are pretty darn nice with good corporate sponsors and locals who appreciate and attend. (granted, probably due to lack of a lot of other entertainment options)
