Matt Walters, The tuba whisperer.

Post by gary »

I have to say that Matt worked some magic on 2 of my horns this past week. They play better than ever. Thanks Matt.

I'm curious to know too, but in general, Matt truly is great.

About 2 years ago, I gave him my Rudy Meinl that was smashed up in shipping. Besides fixing the bell, he gave the whole thing a once-over, and found a significant flattened spot on the leadpipe where it meets the receiver. Just one of a ton of hidden places that Matt knows where to look for problems, which can only be learned by experience.

I trust that Steve Dillon pays him well, because he's the MAN!

Kudos to Matt as well!!! At the tuba/euphonium conference he assisted me with my Yamaha that I purchased from him. I was thinking I was having some issues with the horn, and he was patient with me and explained what I was doing wrong. He also worked with me with some recommendations on mouthpieces, other horns, etc. He is a great credit to Dillon Music, and they are very lucky to have an employee of that caliber working for them.

Conductors. They hate EVERYONE, no matter how good or how nice.
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

I cannot express enough appreciation for Matt's talents.

Of the 10 best tubas I have ever played, 8 were built by Matt, and the other 2 were tweaked, and SIGNIFICANTLY improved, by Matt.

Truly, the tuba whisperer! Not to mention one of the nicest guys on the planet.

Just another note praising Matt. He just finished working my Cerveny 601 BBb and it came out amazing.
