Favorite Orchestral Duets?

Post by tylerferris1213 »

This is slightly off topic, but relevant enough that I think I can get away with posting here. Sitting in the back of the orchestra, we tuba/trombone players get to hear a lot of great music. Personally, I love watching when orchestra members have duets. What are some of your favorite orchestral duets? One of my favorite ones is an oboe duet in Mendelssohn's 5th Symphony. I can't remember if it's in the 2nd or 3rd movement.

3rd movement of Shostakovich violin concerto #1, tuba/violin duet. Well bassoon plays as well... but bassoon is just for color...

Just this weekend, doing Shost 15. 2nd Mvt has a great tenor trombone - contra tuba duet. Lots of low EEs. (even a DD sharp)

Champaign Polka has a nice Tenor Trombone/Tuba duet. I used my F on this piece and it worked beautifully
