Update: Horn is sold, thanks for the interest
Hello.
I'm parting ways with my Kalison Daryl Smith. It's been a really great horn for me, I just recently decided to get a larger instrument. If I could afford to, I'd definitely be keeping it. It's really easy to play and has great response - especially in the low register; you can really get a lot of sound out of it.
I got the horn used in spring of 2012 and used it throughout my High School and early college years. I got it from an Army bandsman who was in a similar situation as I am now. He got the horn new in 2004, and used it for almost everything. I've played it in Band, Orchestra, Quintet, and Solo settings. I've done well in a few competitions playing this instrument, and auditioned for school using it.
It has a few minor blemishes - small dents along the bell and bottom bow. Also the metal has worn down where my hand has rested. These horns used to come with a bar that keeps the first slide from coming off, which is not on the instrument anymore. That's a good thing though - the bar was always noisy and got the slide caught quite often. I recently took the horn to get it serviced as much as I could - chem-cleaned, polished, had a few of the braces re-soldered, new felts, dents knocked out, etc. The valves work exceptionally well.
Asking price is $4500. Comes with a Tuba Exchange gig-bag. Horn is located in Bloomington, Indiana. I could definitely travel to Indy, Cincinatti, or Louisville and maybe Chicago if you wish to meet and play the instrument. I'll be headed to Atlanta for a week or so on March 14th, too.

This was my horn for about 10 years, first owner. Good to see it again. I can vouch for the quality of this horn. It's a great horn for all around playing, and does very well in every setting! I used it from High School, through College, and into my professional career. Great Horn! Good price too!
