That old story!
I spoke with a tech friend this afternoon and he mentioned he was working on a 1958 Selmer Mark VI alto sax. He went on to say that it had been donated to an elementary school music department. The director brought it to my friend's shop to see what it would cost to put it into working condition. When he got the quote, he said he didn't have anywhere near that in his budget. They then worked out a fair deal where the director got multiple instruments of need [and much more suited to beginners!] in exchange for the swap for the Selmer.
Win/win, and my friend has a find of the lifetime. And you thought something like that was just a story!
