When (as an example of her style) postage stamps were going up from 4¢ to 5¢ and she was in line at the post office to buy stamps (and long before "forever" stamps), she would make some remark like, "I'm glad that I got here today - before the price of postage goes up," ...and she would just stand there afterward and let some good-hearted soul explain to her that even if she bought the 4¢ stamps, she was still going to have to pay 5¢ to mail a letter - once the postage rates go up...etc...
This reminds me of the last time the sales tax went up.
"It's only going up 1%"
No, "4% to 5% is a 25% increase."
Wha, wha, whaaaaaaaaaa!!
I am committed to the advancement of civil rights, minus the Marxist intimidation and thuggery of BLM.
Memphis' (the city of my birth...the city I was determined to - unlike hundreds of thousand of others - not be "run off from"...the city from which I am now a ten-year refuge) population continues to sink, and has now sunk down to around 600K (fewer than three souls per acre). NOT COUNTING "shootings", "stabbings", "attempted murders", and "felony assaults", there has been a *murder inside the city limits - on average - every 36 hours since January 1st.
Per capita, this is 2X the murder rate of Chicago, Illinois.
...but Memphis has a brand-new mayor, and boy - is he tough. He promises to create more jobs for women.

*MORE than half of those murdered were simply "random" people - not involved in any fight, feud, turf war, vendetta, or (so-called) "drug deal gone bad", etc...
Somebody has to clean up the blood!!

Need to re-stain my deck. Can't find the old stain can to get the color formula. Wife says, "Oh, if it was empty I probably threw it away when I cleaned out the store room." I say, "I was saving that for a reason. I always have a reason for saving stuff." Wife says, "Yes, but sometimes it's just because you are too lazy to put it in the trash." Case closed. Guilty as charged. Off to the paint store to get paint samples to match up to the deck. My penance!
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

I remember that from when Maryland increased their sales tax from 5% to 6%. Its only a 1% increase.
... which is exactly how Congress defines a budget "cut"!
MISERICORDE, n.
A dagger which in mediaeval warfare was used by the foot soldier to remind an unhorsed knight that he was mortal.
- Devil's Dictionary - Ambrose Bierce
The car was parked on the south grounds of the White House for eight years, he said, and was only moved occasionally to make sure the battery was running. However, he said he did see Chelsea Clinton drive the car when preparing to get her driver’s license.
He said he found a few items in the car, including a pair of Clinton’s sunglasses in the glove compartment.
I hate to know what Bill left in the car...

ALMOST finished with year 2 of graduate school. I still have about 4 years left, but it's going well, and I'm on-pace for my goal of getting my PhD before I turn 40.
