Interesting request: Custon bass herald trumpet suggestions

Post by BopEuph »

Here's an interesting question for the local tinkerers:

I'm putting together a herald trumpet group, and because of the difficulty of finding a bass herald at a reasonable price, we're going to do a spare parts build.

Right now, the thought is to use a small tenor trombone bell, a baritone valve cluster, and a trombone F rotor. Any suggestions we may not have thought of?

Herald trumpets have their own ergonomic difficulties due to the extension of the instrument. The parts you are using, aside from the fact that they will eventually create an instrument that is not a herald trumpet, are heavier than regular trumpet components.

It's probably a good idea to post this request for information (if you haven't already) at TrumpetHerald.com.

Actually, out of a stroke of luck, I found a B&H bass herald for a reasonable price.
