Meditation by Massenet from Thais arranged for tuba and pian

Post by Averybell »

Hey y'all,
For my juries this semester instead of doing one of the pieces written for tuba I decided to transcribe and play Meditation by Massenet. Originally for solo violin and orchestra, but also arranged for Cello and piano, this is probably Massenet's best known and most performed piece, and it's BEAUTIFUL. I highly recommend checking out the original, or yo yo ma's rendition of the cello/piano arrangement. Anyway I figured I'd post my arrangement here so others could play it if they want.
Enjoy!

OK, I registered, created a password, did the captcha, received the email, clicked the link to activate my email address, but still can't download the PDF. I am reluctant to give Musicscore my credit card number if it's going to be this hard to use. What's the hoop that I am missing?

Nice Avery! I hope Doc gives you a few extra points for putting in the work on the transcription. I'll have to try it out. Love the piece.

Great way to introduce yourself on TubeNet too--come bearing gifts :)

Thanks for posting your transcription! Maybe you came across it already, but I wanted to share this Milstein recording that popped up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXuzLRVi6qk" target="_blank. I've since fallen in love with the piece.

I see he ends it a bit early, compared to OP's score and the Kreisler recordings.

When I work up my electric bass version, you bet it's going to go to the end.

Thanks for this. Nice arrangement that I look forward to ruining in private. I played this piece as part of a community orchestra (with me playing the string bass part) many years ago, and always thought the melody lovely.
