Color and avatar changes/Free to edit posts
Colors are now set.
I changed the avatar settings to be no bigger than 200 x 200 and I changed the size of mine.

Re: Color and avatar changes
My opinion: I think the colors are a good enough idea, but I think it's a little TOO strong.
When I go to the Tubenet homepage, all I see is 58mark, 58mark, 58mark...

+1....that 58mark is way too bold! Looks like a script errorbort wrote:My opinion: I think the colors are a good enough idea, but I think it's a little TOO strong.

Darkened the colors. I think it looks very nice. I believe there is a setting for Mark that can be set to group him with the other mods BUT all his other settings are perfect and I don't want to break anything that is currently operational.

Thanks, that's better.
BTW, thanks for your help with everything. It's cool that you are learning the system and are so receptive to feedback. The place looks good with it's little makeover!

Can those be made some lower contrast color?

It's even worse in the forums themselves where EVERYONE designated as a professional has their username show up that way. I'm not a fan, but of course the site owner can do whatever she wishes. Chances are that I'll drop in on the site anyway.

They don't jump out as much that I noticed, on my screen here -- but my first thought was, bububassboner has left us?
For me, color indicates a link ("hyperlink" we used to say), and a link indicates a live member. Black means no link - no user info -> not a member.
[ edit ] Oops - I see, you all are talking about the topic index, I was talking about the message itself. The topic index needs some adjustments. If the regular users were bold fonts like the rest, it wouldn't be so bad, but the way it is they're pretty faint. I don't know what bloke did to become the Mustard Phantom, but it's kind of psychedelic.

Re: Color and avatar changes/Free to edit posts
I know we can tweak the settings better. There is so much in the admin panel that can be done and when I appointed Mark to moderate stuff, I sort of double listed him with permissions.
So, yes, seeing his name plastered all over the forum makes him look like an attention seeker. He's not. That was all my doing.

It was Mark who mostly fixed it. I bolded everyone's name. Now that I've figured it out, the colors are easy to change.

Putting all the names in bold on the main Forum page is awfully distracting. On the posts, it's not such a problem.

Yes, the trombone forum for example is much more sedate. Interesting style, I suddenly picture the tuba player crowd in loud print short sleeve shirts, white pants and red shoes, etc.

Farah, you've been doing a great job! Remember that tastes vary, and you can't please everyone. Why did you change your username back to bland? I think your username deserves a distinctive appearance in light of your outstanding contributions.Donn wrote:Yes, the trombone forum for example is much more sedate. You've done an excellent job here. Fireworks around your name would be good.

I don't like all the colors and bold print. It's very distracting to read. This morning it seems to be toned down, except 58mark is in bold red all over the page.
No, please keep it simple. No one cares what "kind" of user the others are. If so, it's easy to look up.

It's now just you and Sean, in bold red, as admins. Big improvement. When it was just him it was no big deal, because he posted once every couple of years. But with a more frequent poster with that status there is still a small distraction. But it is way better. I can live with it the way it is if need be.

The revamped avatar feature is great - thank you!
