Hey everybody,
A while back I sought out your advice in making an easily detachable set of giant googly eyes for my sousa. The easiest method I found was to glue a felt pad to the back and then glue binder clips to the pad to clip on the side of the bell. Super easy, doesn't scratch the lacquer and it allows them to move. You can see them in action here (shameless self promotion ahead) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FQ76E3WMvE&sns=em" target="_blank
Thanks for the help in construction ideas!
Cheers,
Josh

This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Do you have a still photo?

I'd be quite pleased if you shared it on facebook. This is a link to my band's page where we post our shorter videos and photos https://www.facebook.com/theyongekings/" target="_blank

One of our Sousaphone players made big googly eyes clip on to the top edge of the bell, but they tend to get hit going through doors or fall off during performances. They were mounted above the bell with some other decorations.

I found using the binder clips lined with felt alleviates the grip issue. With the tension of the clip and the felt giving it more friction I've never had an issue of them falling off or moving at all.

Ah ya my method wouldn't help them being taken out by doors but the binder clips might help keep them on during performances. You'd just need to come up with a different back brace on the eyes to keep it upright as the felt obviously is only suited to hanging under the bell.
