Suggestions for NYC Pre-College programs?

Post by fashionella »

Hello, I wanted to know if you could suggest pre-college programs in NYC for a HS tuba student. I know about Juilliard, I was wondering if there are others you all suggest? She is 14, has been playing for 5.5 years. Has attended Interlochen on scholarship and other summer programs on scholarship as well. She is first chair (out of 9) this weekend at All County. (nassau county). Any suggestions about programs appreciated. Thank you.

I'm not sure, but she must be a great tuba player! Anything at Manhattan School of Music?

I think there is at MSN, and I assume Mannes as well? I'm just not familiar with the players etc and was hoping you all would have insight! Thanks for your response!

Good evening,

I am a current student at Mannes and it truly is a wonderful place. The new arts building and location are fantastic and we just had two brand news halls finished a couple of months ago which adds to the excitement! The pre college occupies the school on Saturdays.

Feel free to send me a message if you would like to know a little bit more about it! I'll be glad to help!

Best,

Moose

It isn't in NYC, but send her to interlochen arts academy! It is truly a magical experience for high school. Just ask Carol Jantsch, among others.

She has already attended Interlochan on scholarship.

You could take the Ferry to Norwalk, there is a good Youth Symphony there with a good program.

No. She's been to summer camp at interlochen. Not the academy.
