Mouthpiece shank size

I just purchased a new Bach Mega Tone 24AW mouthpiece. I love it so far; but the shank diameter is a bit small. When I insert the mouthpiece in to my tuba, it goes all the way in to the ridge on the shank. Is there anyway to compensate for this; any new items out there there that will work? Years ago, when I was in the Marine Corps, I used to wrap a small piece of paper around the shank; but there must be something else (new) that will work that would be semi permanent.----Thanks

The real issue with older Cervenys is mostly that it's a different amount of taper, not really that it's bigger. A Morse taper of any size will wobble.

I've read that some Alexanders (maybe Kaiser shank?) came with a large but not very tapered receiver - is that the same different taper, or would that old Cerveny taper be wider than Morse?

The Lignatone Cerveny-Amati-stencil Eb helicon I used to have, came to me with a weird receiver kind of like that. Not tapered, almost like it was not really intended to fit anything, though a Euro shank fit in it slightly better than American. Ironically, it came with a little unplated mouthpiece with a very wide non-standard taper.

Receivers tend to be extremely inconsistent, even between instruments of the same make, model, and era.

I use aluminum tape. It holds up pretty well, and it's inexpensive.

Fwiw, I just bought a used PT9 with an Alexander shank (0.585" OD at the end of the shank). It has a shallow taper: 0.030/1 versus 0.499/1 for a Morse #1 taper, which is what most mouthpieces sport (someone please correct me if I'm wrong...). I'd be willing to part with it -- before I take it to a machine shop for "modification". PM me if you're interested.
