Seems to me his performances are extraordinary to a point where that becomes the normal situation.
I remember him playing the Arild Plau concerto for Tuba and strings (arranged for reduced wind orchestra) with the Sinfonisches Blasorchester Vorarlberg. I was not part of that reduced ensemble and got to enjoy the first rehearsal with him as a listener.

Some of us definitely didn´t know what was coming and actually were in tears during that rehearsal.
A very moving experience, indeed.

One of the best musicians playing tuba today!! The 3 Billy Goats Gruff totally reminded me of a Zappa piece; so much fun! The light show with the electronic accompaniment was very cool, very effective. Listening to the 4 Seasons, he sounded like a violinist.

Inspiring!

I was there? It was phenomenal! Somehow I knew that he would have an encore performance, and that it would be Fnugg. Although Fnugg did seem a little rushed from other times I had heard it, It was amazing just to hear it! Side note: Does anyone know the name of the piece with the lightshow? I didn't catch it while I was there.

Oystein plays a Miraphone Eb. A special made for his travel, starlight. I've seen and heard him get that incredible range and tone out of a 1921 Holton helicon. I think he could make just about anything sound good.
