Length of "flat whole step" 5th valve on CC tuba

Post by roweenie »

Looking for a "ballpark" estimate - I don't have a CC tuba here to measure.

Thanks

Thanks, guys! I don't have much experience with CC tubas (heck, I don't even know very much how to play one), so the guidance is much appreciated...

Mark, thanks for the math - it certainly wasn't one of my strong points back in school......

I say "ballpark", because as we all know, every different make of horn is individual, and may respond to slightly different tube lengths. I'm guessing it's best to start a little long and trim accordingly......

This won't help: it's the length of the first valve on a G (sub)contrabass tuba.
