titanium mouthpiece copy

The only reason I can think of would be the lighter weight. But the same reduction in weight can be accomplished with a Kelly mouthpiece and it would be a lot cheaper than titanium.

Titanium should be a denser material. It goes to the theory that the material affects the sound. Maybe that's true, but the shape has the overwhelming affect, both in bowl and back bore, making the material general immaterial. It is hard to justify the considerable added expense.

Life is an expensive game. Since - in principe - I have only one, I better play it 100%

AFAIK, Kelly don't copy on an individual basis.

So do you mean you don't think 3-piece designs are good? Sorry, I'm not clear! WHF very well made pieces, no?

The WHF mouthpiece are great. But in three pieces.

And the titanium he uses (I asked tho have the rim in titanium) is more heavy than the G&W titanium and I do not get that really comfort feeling with it. (like with gold plating for example...)

I used an 'original' Baer CC in titanium on my Besson 983 Eb when I wanted it to sound like a big 3/4 CC tuba. I tried the same mouthpiece in stainless steel first, and it was much, MUCH brighter sounding. The titanium made a huge difference on that horn. But on my big Neptune CC, the titanium doesn't seem to make as much difference in timbre - I guess because the Neptune already is an enlarged PT-6. I like the titanium because it responds like a 'light weight', but sounds like a 'heavy weight'. The 'original' Baer has a fairly round, 'cushy' rim, so I still use that for long days at the Oktoberfest.

Whether they'd be willing to work with titanium is another matter. You can always call them and see.
