FS Meinl Weston Model 11 $500 SOLD

Post by Larry6153 »

I have two Meinl Weston model 11 tubas for sale. They were local school instruments and look it. Plenty of small dents, resolders, and finish wear. The pistons and slides are in good shape and play fine. Both have old wooden cases.
I actually purchased 3, but I'm keeping one for myself.
I got a good deal on these and passing some of that along.
Asking $650. Here is a link to my Dallas Craigslist ad for one of them.

One sold locally. The buyer described the one I have left as "stuffy" sounding compared to the one he purchased, and even I could hear the difference when he demonstrated it. It's definitely in rougher condition. So I'm taking that into account and lowering the price to $500. The pictures on the CL ad is of the horn I have left.
Thanks, Larry

These were great horns. I was able to play one for four years in the 1970's and really liked it.

Bump. Am I asking too little or too much for these horns?
They're not the prettiest, but play well. Any input would be appreciated.
Thank you, Larry

That is a good looking horn for an old school horn. Can't believe it hasn't sold. Stick to your guns. $650 is a good price for that horn. A Friend of mine has the 3 valve version (10 I think), and he paid $575 for it with no case. :)

These horns are great for those that don't have a lot of money or they are older and have some physical issues. I would get one but I already on a Mirafone 282.

If I were in your area I would be VERY tempted to buy one of these M-W 11s.....but I'm over 1000 miles away. You have very good prices on these tubas, including the YBB 321. The Meinl Weston 11s would be great for middle and high school (and strolling/dixieland/quintet gigs), and the YBB 321 would be good for high school or college band.

Band directors on a budget take note :!: (bump) :tuba:
