Can you ask them if they have plans to make a big rotary CC tuba?

For anyone who has gone, do you need to bring a mouthpiece to try out their horns or do they have sample MPs that you can play on there?

They will make a big Hagen C with 4 front pistons and one rotor valve. No time frame though

Bring your own or use a Miraphone mouthpiece

Thanks -- how was your visit? How long were you there? (I'm trying to plan out the rest of that day's adventures but don't want to rush.)

Thanks! Bummer though, I think another 4p+1R tuba is not what the world needs right now... even though I'm sure it'll be great!

I checked the Miraphone website. They still make the "Tommy Johnson" Miraphone 190, which is a large tall 5/4+ rotary CC tuba. If I had unlimited funds... :tuba:

I've seen (and tried) one of those before... I was not totally impressed, but in all fairness I wanted it to be a big 188. In reality, it's a big and different tuba, which would take either more time to learn or a more skilled tubist, or both. Either way, I didn't love it.

Would be cool to see a CC version of one of the new BBb models they've come out with recently.

Bort, honestly I think your life would be simpler if you would just switch to Bb. There are a ton of great Bb tubas that seem to meet your desires!

*edit for autocorrect (BORT, not birthday!) ;-)

Ugh, I know. I feel like 15+ years on CC tuba is going to make it too annoying to go back to BBb... but I guess it'll only get worse from here! :P

It's not so bad. I switched last summer. Bought a horn, wrote in the fingerings and played a concert about a week later.

River cruises look neat, but just like any other cruise... isn't the point of going to another country to NOT be stuck with a bunch of other Americans?

I'd still put up with it for some oompah and beer. :tuba:

Testing done. For me the clear winner is the Hagen 6/4. Now there is just three looooong months of waiting until it is built

Hi Erik,
I don't know what price you will pay for the Hagen at Miraphone.
Don't believe they can beat Thomann's and freight is included.
Furthermore, they have it in stock.

Lots of construction on I-43 north of Milwaukee this year- as well as on I-41.

I 'believe' that was a trial version style that Wessex had that Laabs is now selling...notice the leadpipe goes into the top, not the side. If it is what I think it is, intonation is ....how do I say this politely...interesting.... 8) ....
