Nah, I just googled it and it came up. I don't have twitter (or Facebook) either. I figure if I had one or both of those, it'd severely cut into my TubeNet time. :P

As it seems a bunch of us use IMSLP, I wonder what you all think about their movement to have us contribute cash for their service in return for making it easier [and faster] to use the site? There were a lot of opinions when they announced the change, and most seemed split down the middle whether or not it was the right move. Their failure to document financial need seemed to put people off the most. Where do you fall?

A conundrum: they want a donation of $22. per year per user, but it is optional right now. So, if you want to get the service for free, you only need to wait 15 seconds for your download instead of getting it right away. Is it human nature to step up or continue to let "someone else" do the heavy lifting?
Reading comments from users, there seems to be a need for the owner to provide the user with "transparency" of the financials before the users feel comfortable kicking in the fee. Is this realistic?
I think that setting a fee of some sort for one to use the service is the only way for it to work--I can't see half and half being sustainable. I'm not sure Wade's idea of a per-use fee is workable; I see more of a subscription-based system. Join and you can use the service. I only wonder if they will then need to compensate all the contributors: this could get very expensive. :(

I sent my $$ to imslp because I want to support them. Two things:
I was signed up for a recurring credit card charge which I only discovered by accident. That was a good thing because I found a couple others I did not know about (through Paypal) and one was a scam.
the other is that it takes just as long to sign into imslp as it does to wait the 15 seconds for the download to start, so it does not save me any time to have joined. Lesson learned. I suggested they change how they do it and got a lot of blather back.
