Lots of potential as long as the valves are in good shape. I think the price is too high for that Martin in that conditon. I will defintly keep an eye on it.

Looks like one of the Navy Martins from the 50s. If you look closely you can see where the tuning lever would have attached to the main slide.

If it's a legit ex Navy D.C. tuba that survived with USN engraving then it is worth the asking price. I have played an ex Navy D.C. Martin tuba with tunning lever and USN engraving. I don't know if there are any other ones out there. I will watch this tuba.

Talked with a friend of mine who also owns one of the Navy D.C. Martin tubas that were designed for the tuba section of the D.C. Band. This tuba according to serial number is from the same batch as his. 5 or 6 Martin tubas were saved from the crusher and sent to schools. He has one and it looks like this could be another. If I hadn't jus finished working on my Martin I would buy this in a heart beat. I am still trying to convince the wife to let me buy it ;) This tuba is apart of Martin and Navy Band history. Whoever buys it and restores it will be in for a great playing tuba.
