I have decided to sell my 1951 vintage King Sousaphone. I purchased it a few years ago but am not using a sousaphone enough to justify having two. This sousaphone would be great for someone who wants a light-weight brass horn that looks good from 15 feet away, yet if you ding it, you won't be too sad. Here are the specifics of this great-playing horn:
-Key: BBb
-Standard, .687" bore
-Includes neck & bits, but no mouthpiece
-Includes serviceable, vintage King wooden case
-Valve compression: Excellent. This horn was rebuilt at one point
-Includes pictured shoulder pad
-Many dents and dings-still plays amazingly well!
-Lacquer is about 85% (still very shiny!)
-$1,500 - offers will be considered
I have had excellent luck shipping large horns in their cases by Greyhound. I prefer this way over UPS of FedEx because it's a lot cheaper and the instrument gets to you much faster. Last time I shipped a tuba from Reno, NV to Maine, it was about $100. That was over a year ago, so prices may have changed a bit. If you are interested in purchasing it, I will get your address and local greyhound station and quote you the shipping cost. The horn will be packed securely in its case and wrapped to avoid any damage. Luckily insurance is also now an option with Greyhound, which I will purchase. Check or Google cash payments accepted with no fee. Please allow a few business days for a regular check to clear. Credit cards accepted through Paypal for a 2.75% fee to cover transaction costs.
Please send me a PM via TubeNet or email to me at wpvanceiii at Gmail dot Com. I have sold several tubas over the years and if you look back at my history, you will see I have a track record of taking care of each buyer. I'm just a regular tuba player who buys horns and trades them on occasion. I believe in continuous communication until the horn has arrived and you are happy with it.
