FS: Schlipf #8 Practice Mute

Post by Michael Bush »

It's lightly used, in the condition shown in the pictures. (All three rubber-ish strips are shown; one has a slight tear, clearly visible.)

These are excellent practice mutes, known for making it possible to play in tune with it in the tuba.

Pictures are here.

The #8 mute fits at least the following tubas. (I've simplified the original list a bit):

"B & S GR41 CC & 3103 BBb; Besson 994 BBb; Hirsbrunner 4/4 CC; Jupiter 584 CC; Miraphone 188; New (European) York 3094 BBb; Rudolf Meinl 4/4 BBb & CC and 4345 piston & rotor CC; Thein 4/4 CC; Walton BBb."

$200 + shipping. (The new price is $300.)

Interesting -- I wonder when they switched to rubbery strips on the outside? When I had one, it had strips like that, which were the soft part of velcro.

Regardless, these things are really nice!
