Posting for a collegue:
I'm selling my Rudi Meinl silver plated 4/4-BBb-Tuba from the early 70s.
There's no engraving on the bell, but master craftsman Christoph Endres, who is a former employee
of Rudolf Meinl Sen. and runs his own shop in Nuernberg told me it's a Rudolf Meinl 4/4-BBb-Tuba from
the early 70s. He also claims that it has meinlschmidt valves, which was usual in Rudi's shop when this instrument was built.
There were some modifications done by an unknown repairman, e.g. the routing of the 4th valve slide, which was relocated so that it can be easily manipulated with the left hand.
There are two triggers installed, which were masterly made by Mr. Endres.
The first valve slide trigger is operated by the left hand (the ring is adjustable) and the 2nd valve slide trigger can be moved by the right hand thumb (like it is with the Meinl Weston 197 model).
The instrument was fully serviced by master Endres in June and is in very good condition.
Price is 7400$ (OBO) ... and includes a Gigbag and a Mouthpiece
It's possible to test it near Heidelberg (south-west Germany) or in Berlin.
Otherwise we have to talk about other possibilities.
pm me if you're interested or for further information

My HS had 4 just like this - bought from 1970 - 1974 - except they were lacquer. Fantastic low range and a nice high range. Lovely sound. We could have used those valve triggers. They got a lot of years (40) out of those horns - pretty well taken care of for a bunch of high schoolers.arpthark wrote:Very interesting. I've never seen a RM with this design.

It looks like yours has been very well taken care of over the years.
Good luck with your sale!
