And in regard to the medical marijuana question and Henry accusing me of "speeding".

For one thing, I never speed. I am 31 years old and have never gotten a traffic violation or been in a wreck where I was at fault. I drive a big SUV, carefully.

In 1995 when working bike patrol for the UCLA police department I responded to a call on my bike and was seriously injured. The left pedal on my bike broke off while riding downhill at about 30 mph and my left foot smashed into the pavement, breaking multiple bones in my foot and dislocating three toes. I had three reconstructive surgeries and was told I may never walk normally again. I still experience a large amount of pain in that foot, and use pot for pain and to help me with my balance.

If I had been able to bring a little ganga with me to my brother's wedding in DC, I may have avoided busting my knee. It certainly helps me walk properly and balance. It sounds to me that Henry gets most of his drug information from commercials on television, not from certified MDs.

And I do have a prescription. If the Feds would get their big, six fingered hands out of California's business, people here who really need MJ for medical purposes could stop living in fear. After all, the people did vote to legalize medical marijuana in this state!

I'd still want a .45 or .357 fo when I'm not near the counter. That long mag would be uncomfortable to carry often, even with a sholder sling.

I don't check this part of the board often so sorry about the late post. Anyhow... I'm sorry that you have to deal with this stuff man and I can't believe the crap these guys are pullin based off a parking ticket.

My question is why couldn't the officer try to arrest these hoodlums there? If, in fact, it is well known that you don't live in a great area, and that the cops have been watching the operations across the street, the police should have sent more that 1 person. Just makes me kinda mad. I've had all sorts of crappy things happen to me and my fiancee since we moved to the north side of chicago (north of lincoln park and lakeview it gets pretty sketchy) and all the police have ever done for us is have us write up a police report and that's the end of it. Lot of good it does when I have football player sized men chasing my fiancee in the middle of the day. I feel for you man. What sucks more is you can expect the cops to not help you at all with your vandalized car... I know the cops basically said they couldn't care less when I had my car broken into. Man... you're in my prayers.

Now for my 2c:
Sounds like a case of dealing with laws that only keep honest people honest. Frivelous laws like these should only make sense to people who agree with Karl Marx. Before all of you get mad at me calling those people commies... think about it for a second... If human kind were by nature good then communism (and utopia) would work.... so would the laws that keep guns out of honest peoples hands and not having laws to help offer more protection in situatons like MSMs.

Aahhhhh!!!!!!!!!! Life in So-Cal!

I've lived here since 1977 and things have changed so much in the past 25 years. I currently live in the Inland Empire, 40-50 miles east of LA but I lived in Downey & Southgate for a short time in the late 70's...

LA has such a diverse culture. To live here (as with most large major cities I would imagine) you must be tolerant of this and accept certain risks. It's unfortunate but it's the price you pay for living here.

It's kinda sad because most of us here in So-Cal are pretty layed back and easy going. Of course drugs and gangs will make people do just about anything...

I didn't read the entire thread for your post but how are things now??? I know your still around, do you still live in the same area? Hope things are better....

I live in Ft. Meade, Maryland. Last year there was a student outside the music department door who was knocked unconcious by a blow to the jaw and later stomped and spat on by passing students. The act was random and scared me to know that this happens outside of "my home." I guess i was not alive for "the goold 'ol days" where it was safe to go outside and what not. But i do realize that now isnt safe really, and people can be real......"stupid" .......not even thinking and just acting out rudely.

I'll pray for you man. I teach at a Christian school where we can do that each day. I will put you in our prayer requests. I do have one small suggestion...

Get the F**K out of LA! Your story (not yours specifically) and a host of other reasons is why I don't live in New York anymore. My only reason to travel to NY is to see my family. I like living in Alabama where YES, we have running water, indoor plumbing, electricity and such (contrary to Yankee myth!!). Your story is why my grand parent's family moved from Brooklyn and the Bronx eastward on Long Island...to avoid crap like that. Unfortunately, the neighborhood I grew up in is turning to crap. Last time I visited my folks I heard an aweful fight and what sounded like a gunshot in a park about 100-200 yards from my bedroom window. My parents who are in disbelief said it was nothing....and the sounded was a car that backfired. Backfire my A$$!

Where I live right now is the American dream. I have a wife, a BEAUTIFUL 3 bedroom/2 bath gray brick house that would have cost about 3-4 times as much money back home (I'm truly blessed), fenced in yard, 2 dogs, QUIET subdivision with great neighbors and peace of mind. Yeah....I have about a 10 minute drive to the closest super market and a 15 minute drive from a sizeable town (ie Walmart, super markets, restaurants, soon-to-be movie theaters, BBQ...mmmmmm....BBQ and others). Right now my biggest gripe is that they are building in our subdivision and we lose power for an hour or so each week. Where I live, it's not all wine and roses, but I did want to help give you hope that IF you decided to move, there are still some great places to live.....there might even be some place you would like in state.

By the way....all of my doors have deadbolts and we have a security system. Remember....I'm a transplanted New Yorker.

I came up in a resort town where we knew everyone and saw it grow to a place where we knew almost no one. The new residents pay such a premium to be here that they feel obligated to bicker about most everything.
We moved outside any city limit and are content to be left alone and not have the "flower patrol" pull up in a white pickup and ask, "Some one threw a beer bottle on your lawn. Are you going to pick it up?'
The town turned into a parking lot at 3 P.M. because the yuppies couldn't allow their their little darlings to ride the awful old school bus.

Wow. I had no idea this post would go on so long. I guess I had better update.

So the dudes at the car wash have chilled out. They still spit on my car once and a while, but for the most part they stay away. The LAPD threatened them and I guess they took it seriously.

Even better is the parking situation. They no longer park their vehicles in front of my studio. I know the LAPD advised them against that, but never would have thought they would comply.

Now the only thing that bugs me around here is the bums. They are all over the place. But they respect me, probably because they can hear that I'm a musician. Other than the trash they leave and them always wanting to talk to me when I go out, they haven't been much of a problem.

I no longer carry my firearm when I go out. That's a good feeling. I wouldn't want to be arrested for carrying.
