Another masterful job by the Brasslab, Brooklyn NY

Post by Frank Ortega »

Hello All,

I just wanted to post some pics of the latest work that I had done on one of my horns.

It's a Huttl 6/4 Kaiser BBb. It had clockwork spring linkages and levers, he also gave it a good cleaning, and took out some dents in the lead pipe and main tuning slide.

Chuck MacAlexander is a Master Brass tecnician.
His work is always meticulous, clean, and every horn comes back playing better than I imagined they could.

Thanks Chuck!

Awesome! That's something I sure haven't seen before! Are those the original paddles? Very cool looking. How big is it? So hard to tell on its own...

PS: Brooklyn  The shop on W. 25th was pretty damn cool!

Chuck moved to East Williamsburg from West 25th Street several years ago, maybe around 2011. He's set up in a light industrial building and has probably more than double the space he used to have. His old space in Chelsea was really cool, if you didn't mind walking up about a thousand stairs.....

Manhattan real estate prices have gone through the roof in the past 15 years or so - areas of the city that I thought would NEVER be attractive have just flooded with new people.

Small world Elephant, I lived just across the G.G.P. from you, in Staten Island...

And, I concur with Frank - Chuck is a master technician, and a really nice guy, too!

And he stars in a documentary about bird watching -- that was fun to stumble upon!

Is the Mammoth an original front action or a conversion?

Cool horns Frank!. There are two of those Kaiser Huttls here in central Florida. One looks like it was overhauled and then sat in an attic for 40 years. The owner doesn't post here but if someone wants to check them out drop me a PM and I'll hook you up. Ed
